An Update on the Use of our Building
In light of the variety of provincial and diocesan updates that are circulating, I invite you to read a statement about our facility at this time:
Julian of Norwich Anglican Church is committed to using its physical building for the use of our worshipping community, our community partners and renters, and the broader neighbourhood. Our building has been a supportive presence in the Cityview area for over six decades. In the midst of these challenging days our facility and sanctuary has been closed for all uses. In the coming weeks our Parish Council, under the direction of the Anglican Diocese of Ottawa, will be creating a timetable for staged reopening of the property in a way that errs on the side of caution and safety for any and all individuals. All of us are eager to return to being able to use our physical building for in-person community activities, but not at the expense of safety and health.
For the foreseeable future; and no earlier than September 1st, the building and all surrounding property will remain closed for all activities. This includes in-person worship of any size, rentals, community events, small meetings, and any ministry or community activity. The only exception is for inurnment in our columbarium (under strict guidelines) and some administrative functions (with no more than three individuals in the building at any one time).
Over the summer we will create a plan that will enable us to implement a safe re-opening that respects all social-distance and risk mitigating protocols that will be encouraged for use in church spaces. It is our hope that the ’new normal’ at the building will unfold in early September.
