What is Lent?
Lent is the six week period that commences on Ash Wednesday and concludes on Easter Sunday. Lent has been a traditional time for fasting or giving something up, or abstinence. There are many resources available on the world wide web that describe Lent in detail.
Lent is an opportunity to renew and deepen our relationship with Jesus. Traditionally, Lent is a time for prayer, fasting and almsgiving. It often includes giving something up (like a particular food) or you can take something on (like daily prayer). The idea is that you choose something that can enable you to strengthen your relationship with God and focus on deepening your spiritual journey. You might choose to read something that will nourish your spiritual life. You might join in the various activities that are happening at the parish during the season. You may wish to donate specifically to our Outreach Ministries.
