Children & Youth
The church school offers programming during the 10 a.m. Sunday Family Eucharist service from September through June each year (typically for children from age from 3 to 12 years).
Sunday School provides a safe and welcoming environment for children to explore the meaning and mystery of the Bible and how it relates to their lives. The curriculum is based on a combination of “Lesson Plans that Work,” “Celebrating the Gospels,” and “Seasons of the Spirit” multi-age curriculum. The weekly lesson plans contain a story and a variety of activities and crafts that the children really enjoy.
The children and youth also participate in numerous activities outside of the regular Sunday School routine, including:
- Pageants at Pentecost and Christmas
- Making artwork for display at an art exhibit
- Running a cookie and lemonade stand, and a toy table at church garage sales
- An Adventure Saturday with other congregations
- Cookie sales to raise money for Haiti relief
- Baking muffins for the Algonquin College Ministry, Cornerstone Women’s Shelter, and various fund raisers
To register a child for Sunday School, please complete the Church School Registration Form and return it to the church office to assist in planning. A warm welcome is extended to anyone who wishes to help teach or support the Sunday School activities. Experienced teachers are available to “team up” with anyone who wants to learn how to do this. We are happy to accommodate volunteers who are available only for a special day’s activities, a number of weeks or months, or the entire year.
To volunteer, ask questions, or share suggestions, please contact Alex Dopplinger by email at firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone at 613-228-7717.
