A labyrinth is not a maze. There are no tricks, no dead ends, and no right or wrong way to do it. There is a single winding path that leads you to the centre and then back out again. Labyrinth walking is an ancient practice, found across cultures and centuries — in Greek and Roman patterns, Indigenous traditions, medieval cathedrals, and contemporary public spaces.
Walking a labyrinth invites you to slow your body so your mind can catch up.
You don’t need to be spiritual, athletic, or “good at meditating” to walk a labyrinth. You can bring a question, a worry, or nothing at all. Some walk in silence, some with music in their ears, some with friends nearby. The path holds you either way.
In a world that pushes speed, productivity, and performance, labyrinth walking offers something quietly radical: a few minutes to be present, grounded, and human.
Location
It’s only about 20 minutes by bus from Algonquin College.
From Baseline Station, take OC Transpo Route 111 toward Meadowlands / Merivale. After getting off, simply walk straight ahead and you’ll see Julian of Norwich Church on your left-hand side. The route is straightforward and easy to follow, even if it’s your first time visiting. 🚌 ⛪️
