Paul Dumbrille, Licensed Lay Reader
Paul is a parish Licensed Lay Reader at Julian of Norwich. As such, he functions under the authority of, and is accountable to, the Incumbent. As a Licenced Lay Reader Paul serves the parish in several ways: as a worship leader, he assists with or conducts services of public worship, mainly in the absence of a priest; trains and organizes parish readers and intercessors, who assist in liturgical duties at worship services; and also assists with the operation, maintenance and upgrades to the audio-visual equipment in the sanctuary and church hall.
In 1995, after five years of study by correspondence, Paul received an Associate of Theology Diploma from Thornloe University of Sudbury Ontario. He has also completed the four-year Education For Ministry (EFM) Course.
Paul is a long-time member of the choir and a past church warden. In addition to being a member of the Executive Committee of the Canadian Anglican Fellowship pf Prayer (AFP) he is the Ottawa Diocesan Contact for AFP. He has also been active in the Cursillo Movement and Alpha.
Paul lives in Ottawa and is married to Marg. They have two grown and married children and one grown grandson. Although now retired, Paul is a graduate electrical engineer, who, following a 30-year career in the Canadian Navy, was employed for 14 years in management and business development for a high-tech firm. His hobbies are walking, biking and crossword puzzles.
